The tapered roller bearing is used to support combinations of large axial and radial loads or just large axial loads. The contact angles of the inner ring (called the cone) and the outer ring (referred to as the cup) raceways are not equal, and under rotation, the angular difference produces a component of force on the rollers that establishes contact between the large roller ends and a guide flange (called a rib) located on either the cup or the cone. Since a large amount of sliding contact exists in the interface between the large roller end and the rib face, and is therefore subject to significant friction, tapered roller bearings are not usually suitable for high-speed operation. However, higher rotational speeds can be obtained with specialized cooling, lubrication, and surface treatment.

Taper Roller Bearings
The Taper Roller Bearings are mainly used for supporting axial forces equally in both direction of bearing. Here, the inner and outer raceways are segments of cones and made with a taper so the conical surfaces of the raceways and roller would all meet at a common point on the main axis of the bearing.
Available in pairs, these bearings are mainly used in construction, mining and agriculture industry. We provide them in all four major categories, which are single row, double row, and industrial row taper roller bearings. These are widely installed in cars, marine engines, light vehicles, agricultural equipments, steering etc.
Available Sizes :
- Taper Roller Bearings - Inch Size : These are completely different from metric taper roller bearing; the inner ring with roller and cages assembly and the outer ring have individual designations.
- Taper Roller Bearings - MM Size : The designating of bearings is done as per the international standards. The metric bearings have normal tolerances standards.
Features :
- 30 / 31 / 32 / 33 / LM / HM series / Inches and MM series
- 250mm OD (Outer Diameter) maximum capacity
- Customized maximum till 300mm OD
Applications :
- Cars, Light Vehicles, Heavy Vehicles and Other Automobiles
- Marine Engines
- Heavy Earth Movers and Industrial Movers

The most common material for ball bearing, roller bearing, and tapered roller bearing is chrome SAE 52100 bearing steel. This bearing can be made by high carbon content of 1.5% and has Rockwell hardness of about 64 HRC. Chrome steel bearings can operate at higher temperatures of 120°C, but providing heat treatment to the bearings, their operational temperature exceeds 220°C. Although chrome bearing has excellent wear resistance capability, it is most susceptible to corrosion due to low chromium content. Surface of bearing must be protected from oxidation by giving wear resistance coating or by providing fluid film over it. Stainless steel bearing possess higher chromium content up to 18%, which makes it superior to SAE 52100 when comparing corrosion-resistance behavior. The major disadvantage of stainless steel bearings is that they are low hardness of about 58 HRC and have 20% less overall load-carrying capacity. Stainless steel bearings are even costlier and operate at higher temperatures up to 250°C. The standard composition of SAE 52100 and AISI 52100 bearing steel is incorporated in Table 11.2.
